Tuesday Night Activities

This coming Tuesday (March 31st) each class is doing something a little bit different, so I thought I better post some directions.

Beehives: You will meet at the church building at 7:00 and will be going on a special "outing" with your leaders. If you have not turned in your yearly permission slip, you must bring it with you!

Mia Maids: You girls will be meeting at the church building at 7:00 and will be getting things ready for an up-coming activity.

Laurels: You will be meeting at my house (Sister Hull) at 6:30 for a sleep over! We will be making tacos, so don't forget to bring your assigned ingredients as well as your stuff to stay the night! I will provide breakfast in the morning. It's going to be a lot of fun!

Bishop's Night, Service Project & Meeting

This coming Friday March 27 is the night with the Bishop at our building from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Please come dressed in clothes that you can easily move in. I'm not exaclty sure what kinds of activities we will be doing, but I know it's going to be fun!

This Saturday March 28th the youth (both girls and boys) have been asked to participate in a service project helping one of our ward members with their house as they are preparing to move. The girls will be meeting at my house at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday and we will work from 1:00-3:00. This is a special opportunity to help someone else and knowing our girls I know we will make it fun too!!

Also this Saturday there is a general young women's broadcast at the stake center at 5:00 p.m. This is for all young women, their parents, and young women leaders. The broadcast will be held in the chapel, so it will be church dress.
I hope to see all of your shinning faces there on Saturday!

Mariah

Our spotlight for the month of March is Mariah Rodriguez!

Mariah was born in Pasadena, Ca. She has 3 sisters and is a convert to the church. Some of Mariah’s favorite leisure activities and talents include drawing, singing and playing the Wii. She enjoys eating at In and Out and her favorite colors are black, and blue. Her favorite subject in school is Art. After high school, Mariah would like to go to college. A goal she would like to achieve would be to finish her personal progress and to become a better singer. Mariah loves stuffed animals and loves “Jack” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. One of Mariah’s greatest qualities is that she makes a really good friend. Mariah, we are so happy to have you in the Young Women Program.

I am so glad that you came back to our ward and back to our Young Women's! You are such a special girl, thanks for bringing so much light into the lives of those around you!

Getting excited for camp!

Last night we all gathered for mutual at Sister Bunn's house to work on camp crafting stuff. The girls learned how to build and extinguish fires and how to cook food using fire with a dutch oven and by roasting it. It was a really fun activity, and I don't know about all of you girls, but I'm really excited about camp now!! Here are a few pictures from the night.

Girls waiting for their dinner to finish cooking in the dutch oven.
Erin and Caitlin enjoying the chicken and veggies....seriously this was a really good meal! I need to get myself a dutch oven now.
Heather, Dori, and Erica eating their dinner.
Erin taught the younger girls a couple different ways to build a fire. The girls had fun building the fires and then took turns extinguishing them.
After dinner it was time to roast marshmallows!
You can't have a campfire without making S'mores!
Julia and Nicole roasting their marshmallows.
I had a lot of fun last night with all you girls! A big thank you goes out to brother and sister Bunn for all your hard work making this activity such a success!

Fun Activity

Last night the Sister Rodriguez's and the Beehives planned such a fun activity. The girls were broken up into two teams and while tied together they had to go around the cultural hall completing fun tasks and activities.
Team #1 was the Mia Maids and the Laurels.

VS. Team # 2 the Beehives!

The first task was eating the gummy worms stuck in the pans of jello without using any hands. It was Julia Versus Maranda

Next was eating a pie of whipped cream and finding the piece of gum, chewing the gum, and then blowing a bubble. This time it was Leslie
against Dori

Next the entire team had to crawl through a box. Erica did a great job leading her team.
Then the entire team had to get through a rope circle.
And then through the boxes.

The Beehives lagged behind the older girls for most of the race, but after they all made it through the boxes they started to catch up!

The last task was to pass 3 lemons through the line of girls. This for me personally, was the funniest thing to watch!! Here's Rochelle passing it to Julia.
Maranda to Nicole.
Then the person at the front of the line had to squeeze the lemon juice into a cup using just her teeth. It was Ashley doing this for the older girls.
The Beehives almost caught the Mia Maid/Laurel team, but in the end our older girls were the winners!!

It was such a fun night, for those of you who weren't there, you really missed out on a fun activity. Thanks again to Cynthia and Audrea Rodriguez and to all the Beehive girls....you did a fabulous job and everyone had such a fun time!!

Divine Nature

During the month of March we will be focusing on the value: Divine Nature. The color that corresponds with this value is BLUE.

"Like the caterpillars who will one day become butterflies, you have the magnificent potential to develop the powers within you and become greater than most of you dare dream...you have the power and the capacity to perform so well that you can inherit all that our Father has if you begin the process and continue until you become what you are really meant to be....
You can choose to use the powers within you to have a happy life and continued growth and development that leads to eternal progression."

"Be loyal to the Royal within you, for you are the Daughter of a King." -Harold B. Lee

"Be yourself- the most important thing you will ever do is become who you were meant to be."

New Beginnings

I just wanted to remind all of you that New Beginnings is this Tuesday, March 3rd from 7-8:30 at the building. Bring your parents! It is casual dress and it will be like you are a contestant on a game show; parents vs. girls!! It's going to be a lot of fun and you're not going to want to miss it!!
