Choice and Accountability

I cannot believe that June is almost over. This month has really gotten away from me!! I thought I better do a post on our value of the month which is Choice and Accountability.
I choose to live by choice, not by chance;
to make changes, not excuses;
to be motivated, not manipulated;
to be useful, not used;
to excel, not compete.
I choose self-esteem, not self-pity.
I choose to listen to the inner voice, not random opinions.
"It's choice, not chance that determines our destiny." ~Jean Nidetch

What is orange?
It is apricots, peaches, and soda pop
Orange shimmers
It is sweet like
lollipops, sorbet, and bubblegum
Orange is basketball, Halloween
It is rare hair color
Orange is razz-ma-tazz
Orange shouts, "This is what I am!"
It's brave, unique, unusual, choice.
Orange knows no fear....
it's true to itself.
What is Orange?
Orange is the gift to us of
CHOICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
"It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." ~J.K. Rowling

Leslie

Our Spotlight for the month of June is Leslie Perkins!

Leslie was born in Riverside California on September 11, 1996. She has three older sisters and a brother who has passed on from this life. Leslie has many hobbies and interests including singing, rock climbing, cooking, baking, and she especially enjoys attending church activities. Leslie’s favorite subject in school is science, but she is looking forward to summer so she can spend time swimming and having parties with friends. Leslie loves all colors and enjoys watching movies with Peirce Brosnan or game shows on TV. When she eats out she likes to go to Olive Garden or Red Robin. At home Leslie enjoys homemade pizza and a Midnight Milky Way for a snack. Leslie still has several years until she has to worry about college, but as of now she plans to attend a good collage that has a great music program. When Leslie gets older she would like to be a loving wife and mother as well as a good cook! We are so happy that you are in Young Women’s with us Leslie. Thank you for always being prepared and willing to lend a helping hand, what a joy it has been having you around!! We love you!!

Leslie, you really are a joy to have around!! Thank you for always being so prepared by always carrying multiples of everything with you at all times! You have brought such spunk to our Young Women's.

Make me a Princess

Last night our beautiful Laurels decided (all on their own) to have a pampering night for the Beehives. It was a ton of fun and I think everyone had a good time.
First the Beehives were treated to facial masks complete with cucumbers over their eyes.
The turn out for the Beehives couldn't have been any better!!
Each Laurel was assigned a Beehive to work with the entire night. They did their hair,
and nails!
And then the Beehives got to put on a pretty princess dress! (or an old prom dress) Here is Natasha after she finished making up Mariah.
Maranda and Erica. Maranda looks great in that 50's inspired look....great job Erica!
Salina and Misty could be long lost sisters. Looking gorgeous girls!
Erin and Keely in pretty blue.
Cousins Taylor and Cheyenne were paired up together...so sweet!
Since there were SO MANY Beehives Ashley did both Nicole
and Brittany!
And Amy took care of Heidi and
Ayeesha
I have to say the biggest transformation of the night was Caitlin! She looked like a totally different person with her hair straightened...beautiful!
12 girls in all were pampered and dolled up. Looking Good Girls!!!
The lesson we learned (given by Ashley) was that even when we aren't all dressed up we are still beautiful and we are still princesses because we are daughters of our Heavenly Father in his Kingdom. And don't you forget that girls!!!

Thank you for your example, your burning testimony, your smiling face, your positive attitude, and for all the love you have for each and every one of the young women! Have a very Happy Birthday!!
