May Calendar Changes

There have been some changes to the calendar for the rest of this month. I thought I would post the changes so you can plan accordingly.
And just a reminder: Camp Applications are due this Sunday May 17. Don't forget!!!

Tuesday May 19 is election day so we will be having our combined activity (Mia Maids in charge) at Sister K's house. We will announce further details on Sunday.

Tuesday May 26 there will be no mutual at our building because that is the night of the seminary scripture chase. All youth are encouraged to attend that activity at the stake center. Even if you don't attend seminary we want the junior high kids there to cheer our ward on!!

And the Bishop's Youth activity has been moved from Friday May 22nd to Friday May 29th.
Here are a few pictures from Tuesday night's game of "Steal the Bacon."

Knowledge

The value we will be focusing on for the month of May is Knowledge.
What is green?
Green means go
Green is grass, frogs, moss
Emeralds are green
Christmas and St. Patrick's Day are too
It is rich
It is velvety
Green is expansive
Green is the sea, mountains, trees
It is growth
It is becoming
It is learning from becoming
Green was the Grove on that beautiful morning
As Joseph Smith sought to know
What is green?
Green is our search for KNOWLEDGE"If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it." -Winston Churchill

"All the knowledge in the world would not amount to anything unless we put that knowledge into actual practice." -Heber J. Grant"Knowledge of God is the greatest treasure. Of all treasures of knowledge, the most vital is the knowledge of God: his existence, powers, love, and promises. "Learning is not a spectator sport. Fundamentally, the responsibility to learn is yours and yours alone... For learning to happen in any course, you must take an active role in the process."
"Not all knowledge has the same worth - nor are all truths equally valuable. The truths upon which our eternal salvation rests are the most crucial truths that we must learn. . . The most essential knowledge for you to obtain is the saving knowledge of the gospel and its author - even Jesus Christ." -President Ezra Taft Benson

Emily

Our spotlight for the month of May is Emily Faraoni!

Emily was born in Riverside California on October 10, 1994. She is the oldest of three girls. Emily enjoys dancing and is currently dancing in competitions where it’s not rare that her team comes in first. Emily also likes to draw, which may explain why her favorite subject in school is art. Emily’s favorite colors are dark blue and green. She is looking forward to summer so she can spend time with her friends at the beach. Emily likes to eat at Fazoli’s, but her favorite home cooked meal is chicken pot pie. As far as sweets go, Emily likes Twix best! Emily is currently in 8th grade at Palm Middle School but is already starting to think about plans for after high school graduation; she wants to go to college and study art. Emily has set the goal to become an artist when she is older. Emily: we are so glad that you are in our ward. We love you and couldn't imagine young women’s without you!

We love you Emily!!

Kid's Carnival

On Tuesday night the Mia Maids did an excellent job putting together a kid's carnival for the combined activity with the boys. Here are a few highlights from the night.

The surprise hit of the night was the jump rope. It seemed like both the boys and the girls really got into it. I love how high Golden is jumping in this picture.

Nicole, Brittany, Natasha, Taylor, Leslie, and Keely all making it over the rope.

Not very many people were able to do the pogo sticks, but Carl and Ryan sure could!
After the outdoor activities were finished everyone came inside and played a hysterical game of pop the balloon. It was red balloons vs. purple balloons.
The red team came out victorious on this one!
And it wouldn't be a carnival without a pinata! Here's Mariah giving it a good whack!
Scrambling for candy!
What a fun night everyone had. Thanks Mia Maids for all your planning and hard work!!
